Family Vacation Bible School · Summer Camp · Game Day Parking All youth meet in a separate house at the edge of the church property called "The Pier". All youth Sunday school classes as well as all youth activities are held here. It has been decorated by the youth and is a wonderful place to come and just "be". Bible StudyBible study is held at the Pier on the first and third Wednesdays of each month from 7-8 pm. On the first Wednesday of each month, pizza is provided at 6:30 pm.Friday Night at the PierSt. John's youth house, known as the Pier, is open each Friday evening from 7 pm to 10 pm with supervised outdoor games (weather permitting), movies (PG or PG-13), indoor games and refreshments. This is a time of fellowship and fun for anyone in our youth group, and their guests. It is a nice, safe place to simply hang out and have fun.For this to work, this is what we need from each youth:
What you can expect from us:
OutingsEach group has at least one outing per month. In addition, some Sunday afternoons are scheduled for activities designed to enhance faith formation and bonding with peers. Various outings and activities include campouts, attendance at Diocesan conferences, ropes course, and watching and discussing a movie.Family Vacation Bible SchoolVacation Bible School at St. John's is organized for all ages, and is a time for young and old alike to experience God's word and God's love in the community. In the past it has been held on six successive summer evenings, or on five or six successive Sunday evenings. Summer CampAll young people who have completed third grade and above are encouraged to attend the Diocesan Summer Camp at St. Crispin's, seven miles east of Seminole. During the week-long stay, campers will experience daily worship, small group discussions, swimming, arts and crafts, canoeing, fishing, hiking, games, cookouts, and lots of singing.Highlights of the week are always the talent show, "freeze and burn", and a party/dance on the last night of camp. Camp sessions begin on Sunday with registration at 4:00 p.m. and end with Holy Eucharist Saturday morning. Cost for the one week session is $145 per camper, which includes everything for the week. Scholarships are available. Game Day ParkingWe make a good portion of our budget by parking cars during OU games. At each game, 60 percent of the money goes into our youth savings, and the remaining 40 percent is divided between the youth who worked that day, placed in an earmarked account, and may be used for any activities sponsored by our youth group, as well as any diocesan events, such as camp, New Beginnings, conferences, etc.Youth Program - Church School/J2A - Activities |
