Our Youth

Youth Program  -  Church School  -  Activities

At St. John's we offer youth a place and a space to explore God and to develop relationships with other young people. There are many activities that the youth are involved in, including:

Some more things that we'd also like you to know:

Cost

We try to be very careful about asking for money. Please know that we don't want anyone staying home because of a lack of funds. There are resources available and will be handled in a confidential manner.

Group Standards

Each youth is required to sign a Community Covenant and a Medical Release when they join the youth group.

Schedules

At the beginning of each semester, each youth receives a outline of the schedule of activities for the semester. Each month, a detailed schedule is provided. We hope to keep these as accurate as possible, but, of course, sometimes things must be changed or cancelled because of circumstances such as last-minute conflicts or weather conditions.

Parent Involvement

A program this size requires more time and energy than the mentors or the youth activities minister can give. The involvement of parents is vital. There are many opportunities to help out, including:
  • Sunday Morning Hospitality - bring donuts and juice for Sunday mornings.

  • Pier Upkeep - make sure the Pier looks good and stays in order

  • Kitchen Queen or King - Make sure that the cupboards are stocked with sodas, cups, plates, napkins and snacks for activities at the Pier. Also keep refrigerator in order.

  • Camping - maintain camping gear and help plan camping trips

  • Game Parking - help with car parking for OU games. This is one of our major fundraisers.

For information on any of the youth activities, contact our youth activities minister, Angie Helt, at St. John's, 321-3020.
