Children and youth, from birth on, are cared for, shepherded and taught by a gracious group of volunteers. On any given Sunday, young people can be found participating in programs around the church.
YOUTH GROUP : We have a vibrant youth program that meets on Sunday evenings during the school year. Youth group is for grades 6th-12th; the program focuses on a creating an accepting and loving community for middle and high schoolers. Youth group meets on Sunday evenings from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Meetings include a brief worship service, a shared meal, and planned activities that are both fun and meaningful. In addition to regular Sunday activities, the group participates in a variety of activities such as the Oklahoma Conference for Churches Interfaith Youth Tour, Santa Ministry Shopping, Christmas Caroling, making hygiene bags for the St. John’s Outreach Office, the Norman Pride Festival and March, Diocesan Activities, game nights, and working in the St. John’s Community Garden.
SUNDAY SCHOOL : Classes for all ages meet on Sunday mornings (Sept. - May) at 9:30 am. Kids pre-K through 2nd learn major Bible stories and Church history through "Godly Play", a Montessori-based method of teaching the Bible. 3rd through 5th graders explore Christian living in the "Living Holy" class. They will learn about the early church, explore patterns of life and special places in the church, and will also begin to engage in theological reflection. 6th through 8th graders will examine Christian themes in popular culture, focusing on concepts such as love, justice, and good/evil. 9th through 12th grade will use the baptismal covenant as a basis for identify areas of need in our community and designing service projects to address those needs.
