Fight Hunger With St. John’s at the CROP Hunger Walk
Now that the summer heat is finally over, let’s get out and walk in beautiful weather to fight hunger locally and around the world. The St. John’s Beloved Walkers team will assemble to participate in the 2026 Cleveland County CROP Hunger Walk.
This year’s event is scheduled Sunday, Oct. 18, at the Norman Adult Wellness and Education Center, 602 N. Findlay Ave. The two-mile course takes, on average, about 40 minutes to complete, but participants – including friendly, leashed pets – are free to walk at their own pace.
Seventy-five percent of funds raised will support the Church World Service’s hunger-fighting efforts, and the remaining 25 percent will stay in Norman to support Food and Shelter, Inc. With rapidly rising inflation and major cuts to federal hunger and safety net programs, the threat of hunger is a growing reality in our community.
Last year, the Cleveland County CROP Walk met its goal of raising at least $45,000 to fight hunger here and abroad. St. John’s had a walking team of 12 humans and one dog, and parishioners raised $750. Our goal this year is to raise at least $1,500, which does not include St. John’s church sponsorship of $250 for the CROP Hunger Walk Parishioners and their friends can join our 2026 efforts by signing up as a donor and/or team member at the St. John’s Beloved Walkers’ webpage.
