Sundays: September 6 - October 11
3:00 to 4:30 in the Parish Library (or maybe the Commons)
(The Bishop is coming October 18th!)
Why join the class?
There is a lot going on in the world right now, hard stuff, stuff that requires mature faith to sort through. We believe the Episcopal Church has much to offer at all times, especially in times like these.
Holy Baptism is the sacrament by which God adopts us as his children and makes us members of Christ's Body, the Church, and inheritors of the kingdom of God.
Confirmation is the rite for those who were baptized under the age of 16 in which we express a mature commitment to Christ, claiming our baptism as our own, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop.
Reception is the rite for those who were Confirmed with the laying on of hands by a bishop in a tradition other than the Episcopal Church.
Reaffirmation is a rite for those who have already been Confirmed or Received but would like to receive laying on of hands by the bishop as an outward and visible sign of your commitment to Christ though the work of St. John’s and the Episcopal Church.
Who should attend the class?
- Are you ready to make a mature commitment to Christ through the tradition of the Episcopal Church?
- Are you an adult who would like to be baptized?
- Are you already baptized and want to officially join St. John’s and the Episcopal Church?
- Are you already a Confirmed/Received member of the Episcopal Church, but want to Reaffirm your commitment to Christ and the work we are called to do together?
- Are you new to St. John’s, or seasoned member, and are simply curious and want to learn more about who Episcopalians are and how we are called to live as the Body of Christ?
If you said yes to any of the above, this class is for you!
If you would like baptism for someone under age 16, contact Fr. Kirk.
